Say Hey Baby I Got Your Money
For the first time this year my husband went shopping for our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. Never having left our Christmas shopping so late I had visions of us eating sausages and mash. How wrong I was! My husband rang me from the supermarket to tell me that the turkeys had been marked down to half price and Christmas trees were being given away free. We had a luxury Christmas dinner for less than half the price we would have paid if we had bought it a week earlier.
Savings like these can be made throughout the year with just a little planning and research, and at a time when the credit crunch has hit us hard we can all do with ideas to save our hard earned cash.
If you study your local supermarket carefully you will generally find that food prices are marked down at a particular time of day. In our local Co-op I am guaranteed to come away with some bargains if I shop on a Sunday afternoon. On one occasion I bought four packs of 95% meat sausages for the normal price of just one. We also save money on reduced priced bread. With a young family to feed we consume bread so quickly it doesn't have time to reach its sell-by date so it doesn't make sense to pay full price.
